ouchie.

it's been days since i injured myself and my foot still hurts. i did a superman punch and my landing went horribly wrong, thus the midfoot sprain. i've been limping for what seems like forever! it sucks because as much as i want to go through the drills, any movement which requires me to put my weight on one foot or anything that requires twisting my legs is impossible. please pray that when i wake up tomorrow, my foot will be as good as new. i need it! pronto!

Be Patient With Fitness Goals

Given that CBS is calling exercise the new wonder drug for cancer, it is time to consider what it can do for you. Breast cancer, testicular cancer, mesothelioma and prostate cancer are all some of the different kinds of cancer that can affect your life, and you’ll find that even after recovery, you may still be feeling at a loss. Exercise not only allows you to get fit, but you’ll also find that it can have a positive effect on your mood and the amount of control that you have in your life. Consider some of these tips to get your workout ball rolling.

Start Slow
No one is saying that you have to go out and run a marathon right this moment. There are plenty of people who are invested in getting fit, but they want to do it all at once. The truth of the matter is that true fitness and getting healthy in general take time. It is a process, and not something that happens over night. If you can only handle walking around the block a few times, start there. While you might be a long way away from where you want to be, you will only continue to get closer with more work.

Fit It In
Exercise is something that turns off many people because it takes time. If you are constantly trying to find time to exercise, it is time to stop and start figuring out what you can do. Think about fitting exercise in at the beginning of your day, either by waking up a little early or pushing some other things back. Exercise is a fantastic way to start off a day as it gets your heart rate up and it also gives you a pleasant endorphin rush. This is an excellent way to use exercise to help improve your mood.

Expect It to Be Irritating
One of the biggest myths about exercise is that it is immediately fulfilling and enjoyable. If you are starting from a dead stop or if you have never exercised before, you’ll find that it can be an irritating or wearying experience. The truth is, though, even its irritating nature can be used to serve you. For example, even if you find it irritating, you’ll feel accomplished after you have finished. Eventually, over time, the feeling of irritation will wear away and you’ll find that you are much more satisfied with your workout.

Be patient with yourself. Getting fit is a fantastic way to help in your recovery from cancer, and the truth of the matter is that only you can motivate yourself to do it. Consider what exercises work well for you, and consider consulting a nutritionist who can help you get where you need to be.

MMA Chronicles

March 13, 2012: enrolled at the Yaw-Yan ArDigma gym.

March 14, 2012: punchmates! Broke a nail but it was definitely fun! :)

March 15, 2012: Went to the gym before going to work! Very bold move! Haha :)

oh hai!

i spent my weekend sleeping. i started training for MMA last week. 2-hour sessions per day. i take breaks on weekends. training is fun but grueling. muscle pains everyday. gotta get used to this. no pain, no gain... so they say!
i cut down on my cigs. i want to quit it but part of me won't do it. i can't be gasping for air while doing the calisthenics before the MMA drills. also, i've cut down on alcohol. this takes some getting used to. haha :)

Stella Cruz.

the reincarnation

i just want to say that i am so fucking bored. bored shitless. bored out of my fucking wits. work has not been fulfilling. i show up at work to do nothing. i spend my idle time playing kingdom of loathing and what used to be magewar/archmage: the reincarnation.

anyway, the clock is ticking and it's almost the armageddon on the blitz server!!!

total 467 mages are known to exist in terra and i'm ranked 86!

so yeah. i am bored.

"you mean to say that you doesn't want the product?"
oh come on! you have got to be kidding me! (mind you, this was overheard from a friggin' supervisor!)

MMA.

Motive.
why am i getting myself into this mixed martial arts stuff? i think it's about time to start devoting some time to my physical fitness. i've always been interested in martial arts. in fact, i excelled in a few basic classes of karate while i was in college. i still remember being asked to demonstrate kata one or the heian shodan in front of the class as my sensei thought i did it "in perfect form". i must admit that i only took karate classes as it was part of the physical education curriculum back then and i was surprised that i liked it (and was good at it too!). also, there's the issue of self-defense. recently, there had been a several robberies in the neighborhood. i think it's not a bad idea to start learning how to defend myself. two birds. one stone. get my drift?

Opportunity.
i've told you about my friend neil. we've been around town looking for gyms. oh, we've researched a handful and i came to like the Yaw-Yan ArDigma Martial Arts Federation, Inc. (they don't have a website *frowns*). their gym is at the 4th floor, Coast Pacific Downtown Center, Sanciangko St. Cebu City (across UC-main Campus). the climb up the stairs is enough to make me breathless (literally!) and their location is too far from where i live but i'm guessing it will all be worth it in the end. i like how women outnumbered the men in the gym. the instructors are women, too! i don't think i'll ever feel uncomfortable or self-conscious there. i just want to get started ASAP!

Gear.
haha this part, i don't know. as i've mentioned in one of my previous entry -- neil pledged to give me my starting handwraps (thanks neil!). the gym environment is pretty relaxed, anyone can train in a tee and comfy shorts. we've been scavenging thrift shops for shorts, too. gear? check!

Things to Consider.
my schedule: of course, the gym is not open 24/7. according to my research, most physical activities are best performed in the mid- to late-afternoon, as this is when body temperature peaks, meaning the muscles are at their most supple. target is to train in the afternoon. currently, my shift is at 9pm - 6am. so maybe we can train 4-6pm then go home to rest and freshen up before going work (goodluck!). hopefully, this should not be a problem. we're hoping we could request for a schedule which will be perfect for our training.
my left foot: i've had two operations on it and the most recent one was done october 2011. i forgot what the lump was called. my first surgeon said it was a tendon cyst. my second surgeon classified it as some kind of a fibroma. whatever it is, my left foot is never the same -- it's as if i don't own it. i think the nerves had been damaged as it is often numb. it couldn't stand any form of impact, so i guess i won't be able to kick with it. *shrugs*
my budget: for the yaw yan gym, a month's worth of training is 3k. neil and i got it at a discounted rate of 1.5k each. fair enough. i'm praying that this will fit my budget for the next six months or for the next six years!
complete lifestyle change: i would have to fucking say goodbye to smoking and drinking. you think i can do this? wish me luck!

Plan B.
too pessimistic to be thinking of a plan b? *shakes head* i'm just serious about this. i really want to get fit. i know this takes love and devotion! haha :) really, if i can't do MMA -- i still need to find a gym. i'll probably do aerobics! :p kidding aside, i have other options: capoeira or ZUMBA! plan B looks good. but i'm really hoping plan A works out just the way i imagine.

#1 pet peeve: bad grammar

i can't stand this anymore. i keep overhearing people saying things i don't expect to hear at a callcenter.

"i cannot able to hear you, ma'am!"
"i'm sorry, ma'am. i cannot barely hear you."
"i will gonna refund you this amount."
"i've taken cared of this."
"the money did went through."
"how much products did you received from us?"

i shake my head in disbelief. oh, grammar god, have mercy on them.

delirious

good. now i can post on this blog using my office account :D

keep calm and kick ass!

okay, so much for the let's-run-cebu project. since i got here, the circumstances were not so favorable for running and i could not find time to run. well, maybe i could have found time but i did not have anyone to run with. having someone to run with was a prerequisite for me as i did not find cebu as friendly as i've expected it to be. i needed someone to run with me so as to feel safe. haha :)

so anyway, my friend neil who is into MMA is trying to find a Muay Thai gym here in cebu. i've read about it and i'm very interested in signing up for it. he's willing to give me my starting handwraps! we're going around town this week to check where we could get our training and i'm soooo excited! :)

Tangina this!

So i just found out from a very reliable source that someone from my previous workplace had fabricated lies about me. Rumor has it that i drop calls! WTF?!?! Never in my life did i do such thing. They can pull up all records of my calls and wont find a call that had been dropped. Fuck this shit. I cant even fucking defend myself.
